The Schürmannshof was completely renovated in 2005 - 2008 and converted into senior-friendly apartments.
In this context, all outdoor facilities were redesigned. The rainwater was disconnected and a rainwater management with utility water, pond and stream system was developed. A large festival area was created as well as garden terraces, farm garden, animal enclosure, fruit tree meadows and much more.
In the meantime, the farm is accompanied by the association Schürmannshof. By organizing Christmas markets, Easter fires, etc., it has become a cultural center of Essen-Bergerhausen.
