Institute grounds PRE-Uni-Park Kaiserslautern

Along the main connection axis between downtown Kaiserslautern and the university campus of the TU, various institutes have settled in the PRE-Uni-Park, whose outdoor facilities were planned by L.A.U.B. GmbH.
The institutes are the Fraunhofer Institutes IESE and ITWM, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence GmbH (DFKI), the Institute for Surface and Layer Analysis IFOS GmbH, and the Max Planck Institute.

The "string of pearls" of these outdoor facilities shows different design methods of the transitions between the animated street space, parking lots and quiet recreation zones as well as the institute entrances.
Free spaces were functionally arranged and the outdoor facility concepts were designed in harmony with the architectural language.
The redesigns included high-quality entrance and plaza areas, including four atriums, stairways, furniture, a fountain and lighting.
Parking space facilities as well as rainwater channels and storage areas were newly constructed.
The greening measures included tree, shrub and perennial plantings, façade greening, intensive and extensive roof greening as well as interior greening.
