The contribution of our office was awarded first prize in 2001. Our concern was to improve the position of the house in relation to the garden. In front of the magnificent view in a half-height position above the city, the design of the garden should be very restrained.

A rectangular field forms the platform for the buildings of the Chamber of Architects and the Versorgungswerk. It is a stone field whose material refers to the existing granite pavement of the entrance courtyard and the foyer at the House of Architects. A second green layer of cut boxwood ribbons raises the house to a green base and connects it to the garden. The ribbons link the garden spaces to the buildings. In front of the utility house is a sunken amenity area. Strips of flagstone cross the lawn field and lead to the slightly modified
patio at the edge. Vines on the old pergola establish a sense of place. The large trees have been left exposed. Their crowns are illuminated at night by powerful ground spotlights.
